The lordship of Goudet is fundamental in the history of the castle of Saint Vidal. The very first written record concerning the lands of Saint Vidal is attributed to Adhémare de Goudet, sister of the Lord of Goudet, who, by her will, bequeathed her lands to her husband, Hugues de la Tour, who in 1288 became the first lord of the Tower of Saint Vidal.
